All exhibitors (including 4H members) must pay entry fee of $20 and $2 per head for each entry.
WHEN MAKING ENTRIES, YOU MUST KNOW THE HEIGHT OF YOUR PONY.
Any exhibitor wishing to be admitted to the grounds more than once a day may do so by having his/her hand stamped at the appropriate gates.
No stalls will be provided, as all entries will be dismissed at the conclusion of the show.
Any county that prohibits open showing at their county fair will not be permitted to show at the Muskingum County Fair. If violated, premiums will be forfeited. Any pony entered in open class competition may not be used commercially on the fairgrounds the week of the fair.
All entries including those by mail must be in the office of Secretary by Monday, AUGUST 2, 2010. No unsound animal will be awarded premiums.
All participants should report to the center field day of show.
No entry can be shown in more than one class with the exception of the Championship classes.
ALL ponies will be measured 7:30 am to 8:30 am day of show.
The right to accept or reject any entry is reserved by the Board. Ponies to be shown at the call of member in charge, grades or Registered.

CLASS I
NOTE: All light teams must be weighed under the direction of the committee in charge. There must be two or more entries in each or no contest. Pulling Rules of the Buckeye Pulling Association of Ohio, Inc.
Everyone must pay $8.00 admission to grounds, NO REFUND
All horses and mules in light weight Pulling contest must be weighed at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, Saturday, AUGUST 21, 7 am - 8:30 am.
All Pulling Teams must be entered and recorded at the Judge’s Stand by 8:30 am, Saturday morning.
Any driver violating this rule will be suspended.
Alane to pull in is to be used and horses must stay within these limits while making a pull. The contest is to be held on the race track in front of the grandstand..
Pulling will start promptly at 9:00 am.
This society will not be responsible for any accidents on or off the race track.
WINNING TEAMS
Premium money will be held, pending the results of a saliva test of the horses and that if the analysis of a saliva sample indicates that a horse has been drugged or otherwise improperly stimulated such horse shall be disqualified.
OBJECT
-To keep careful lists of the most celebrated horses of all noted breeds and their pedigrees and distinguishing characteristics.
-To publish from time to time every kind of information on such subjects of interest to horse breeders and owners.
-To carry on the business of sponsoring, managing, operating and conducting lightweight & heavyweight horse pulling contests.
-To encourage the breeding, raising, training, buying, selling, importing and exporting of light and heavy draft horses.
-In general to conduct any and all manner of business permitted at fairs and similar places and any and all things in accordance of law and any and all things that may or indirectly be connected w/ the raising & exhibiting of horses.
CLASSES
Class I- Pair of horses or mules weighing under 3,320 pounds
Class II- Pair of horses or mules weighing 3,321 pounds or over. (Pure bred and grade teams will compete in the same classes.)
All counties open to our county will receive premium as offered. Counties not open to our county will receive 20 percent less premium offered in Open World contest.
Information relative to each contest may be secured from respective Fair Secretaries or Superintendent of Department of Horses.
RULES OF THE BUCKEYE HORSE PULLING ASSOCIATION OF OHIO, INC.
1. The distance for each pull shall be 27 feet, but distance of less than 27 feet will be used to determine winner or placement at end of contest. |

2. The distance between side boundaries shall be 14 feet and teams and loads must stay within said boundaries while pulling. Any part of team or load outside of boundaries will void pull.
3. First and second pull shall be in the direction indicated by the judges. Third may be taken in either direction providing enough room remains within end boundaries.
4. Any forward movement of load after driver gives a command to go will be counted as a pull and measurement will be recorded, except in case of breakage which entitles team to another pull.
5. Whistle or signal shall be given when team has made the distance or committed error nullifying distance. Driver must stop team immediately after said signal.
6. All teams must take first pull. Each team shall take first and second pull while hitched to load. Drivers may forfeit second pull. Third pull may be taken after all teams had first and second.
7. Each team shall be driven by one driver through entire contest except in case of injury.
8. Judges decision at the beginning of contest whether driver shall ride if possible. Each driver will be allowed two helpers in hitching, but in no case will helper be allowed to touch load or horses or speak to horses or driver while team is pulling.
9. Drivers shall not prod, whip or touch horses while pulling and shall drive with reasonably tight lines, and in no case will a driver be allowed to whirl or shake lines over horses or above his own head while pulling. No drive will be allowed to jump doubletrees.
10. Undue abusive treatment to horses on or off the pulling field or undue profanity can disqualify contestants if judges see fit.
11. There shall be at least three judges for each contest and a majority shall determine decision.
12. Weight for start of pull shall be determined by the officials so as to hold down number of pulls and still give the spectator a good show although in no case shall more than 1000 pounds to be added if one third of teams are eliminated except in cases of a percentage or weight pull where the handicap on certain teams must be greater.
13. Each contestant must present a weight slip of team weight limit to compete in pull and horses that are to pull together must be weighed together. Weighing must be done by a competent weigh master at time and place designated before pull. Members of the committee must be present at the scales at time of weighing. All light weight teams must be 3,320 pounds or under. 3,321 pounds or
over will be considered as heavy weight teams.
14. Teams will pull in order they weigh in at scales or entries accepted.
15. Driver must be ready when his turn comes to pull. Willful waiting will not be tolerated. two trials at trying to hook will be counted as a pull.
16. There will be no changing of bridles after contest starts. Any driver that drops blinds team will be disqualified for that pull.
17. No light weight horses will be permitted to pull in heavy weight contest except in case of not enough teams to make a good pull and with the consent of judges.
CARE OF HORSES
Horse will be cared for by their exhibitors or their employees, and may be fed and cared for in any way the exhibitor desires.

ALL EXHIBITORS INCLUDING JR. FAIR EXHIBITORS MUSTPAY $20 EXHIBITOR FEE PLUS APPLICABLE HEAD FEE.
All breeding cattle exhibited at the Muskingum County Fair must be vaccinated for Leptospirosis at least ten (10) days prior to the opening date of the Fair, or within the past 12 months. All exhibitors must pay entry fee of 10% of first premium in each class entered and must purchase Exhibitor ticket amounting to $20 which will admit exhibitor and car anytime.
Stalls will be assigned and be under the control of the members in charge of the department after all entries are in.
No open class beef cattle to be admitted before Wed., Aug. 18, 6 am.
If exhibitor has six paid entries or more he will receive helpers tickets which will admit one helper each day.

All cattle entries including those by mail must be in the office of the Secretary by Monday, AUGUST 2, 2010. All Junior Dairy projects will be dismissed on Saturday, AUGUST 21 between 7:00 pm. All exhibitors must clean stalls. All open class beef cattle must be on the grounds between 6 am and 7 pm, Wednesday, August 18, 2010 and will be dismissed by member in charge Saturday, Aug. 21, 7:00 pm.
If you cannot stay until required release time, please do not make entries.
The right to accept or reject any entry is reserved by the Board. Breeders or exhibitors required to furnish pedigrees to department head upon request.
All herds must be owned by exhibitors.

OPEN CLASS JACKPOT TERMINAL
MARKET HOG SHOW SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, 2:00 PM at the Swine Arena
1. Show is open to the world. All pork producers and 4H are welcome.
This will be a terminal show. All hogs will go to Muskingum Livestock after the show & producer will receive current market price for hogs weighing within limits of the show. Checks will be mailed from Muskingum Livestock.
2. There will be a Pee Wee Showmanship class prior to the Open Class Market Show. This show is open to anyone who is too young to participate in 4H.
2A. Adult Swine Showmanship Contest
After Pee Wee Showmanship
1. Open to any male or female who is too old to be in 4H or FFA and have a swine project at the Muskingum County fair.
2. Must sign up by 1:00 pm, Saturday, AUGUST 21 at the Hog Barn. Cost is $1.00/person.
3. You do not have to own a hog to participate.
4. Classes will be divided as evenly as possible.
5. $25.00 cash and plaque to the first place show person. $15.00 cash and plaque to the second place show person.
6. Members in charge have the final decision any issue.
7. Open to barrows and gilts, which will show in separate classes.
8. Entry fee is $10/head. No advance entries necessary. No limit to the number of entries per exhibitor. Fee will be collected at the scales.
9. Health requirements will be the same as for Jr. Fair hogs.
10. Hogs must weigh between 220-280 lbs.
11. All hogs to be weighed from 9-11 am on Sat., Aug. 21. Show is at 2:00 pm.
12. There will be a minimum of three classes for the show with the top four hogs in each class receiving premium monies.
13. Overweight and Underweight Animals will not show. They go directly to Muskingum Livestock.
14. Plaques will be awarded to Champion and Reserve Champion Barrows and Gilts. A Plaque will be awarded for Champion and Reserve Champion overall.
15. All awards and premiums will be given out the day of the show.
16. All fitting practices will be the same as with the Jr. Fair hogs. This includes NO SHAVING.
17. Members in charge to rule on any issues not covered here.

All exhibitors must pay $2.50 per pen. Pens are 5’X5’. Exhibitors must state number of pens when entries are made.
All Jr. Fair exhibitors entering sheep in open class must pay an entry fee of 10% of the 1st premium place.
When 8 or more entries are in one class, monies will be awarded to 5th and 6th places in the amount of $4.00 each.
No bedding will be furnished.
Stalls will be assigned by Members in Charge after all entries are in.
ALL SHEEP ARE VET CHECKED
All Junior and Senior exhibitors must purchase Exhibitors Ticket for $20.00 which will admit exhibitor and car anytime.

All entries from flocks known to have been affected with or exposed to any contagious or infectious disease within the past year shall be accompanied by a certificate signed by a regularly employed state or federal veterinarian.
The management further reserves the right to take any additional measures prior to assigning entries to pens or during the fair that may be deemed necessary to protect the health of sheep shown at the fair.
Any county that prohibits open showing at their county fair will not be permitted to show at the Muskingum County Fair. If violated premiums will be forfeited.
All entries, including those by mail must be in the office of the Secretary by Saturday, AUGUST 2 and all livestock must be on the fairgrounds by 8:00 am, Sunday, August 15.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The standard of perfection to govern a licensed judge. All entries must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor. Any one found guilty of attempting to violate this rule forfeits premiums.
2. No stock can be removed without written consent from the Secretary until Saturday, AUGUST 21, 2010, 7:00 pm.
3. Association will not be responsible for loss or accidents. Birds showing symptoms of disease will be removed from the showroom.
4. Judging will be by comparison system and no one except the Judge, Superintendent, or their duly authorized agents will be allowed to handle the birds. Judging to begin at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 18, 2010.
5. Water cups will be furnished for all large chickens and bantams.
Exhibitors must furnish feed for their entries. Exhibitors of ducks and geese must bring water containers.

POULTRYAND FOWL ON EXHIBIT
Each poultry exhibitor must comply with one of the following (does not include waterfowl, doves and pigeons are exempt from this rule). (A) All TURKEYS, CHICKENS and GAMEBIRDS moved within or imported into Ohio for exhibition must: (1) Originate
directly from A FLOCK or HATCHERY which a participant in the NATIONAL POULTRY IMPROVEMENT PLAN for the ERADICATION of DISEASE and be accompanied by documentary evidence that they meet the requirement of this paragraph;
or (2) Originate directly from A FLOCK which has a NEGATIVE TEST for PULLORUM/FOWL TYPHOID DISEASE within NINETY DAYS, PRECEDING THE OPENING DATE of the exhibition and be accompanied by documentary evidence that they meet the requirement of this paragraph; or (3) Have had a NEGATIVE TEST for PULLORUM/FOWL TYPHOID DISEASE within NINETY DAYS, PRECEDING THE OPENING DATE: of the exhibition and be accompanied by documentary evidence that they meet the requirements of this paragraph; or (4) Be tested for PULLORUM/FOWL TYPHOID DISEASE upon arrival at the expedition by tester approved by the Ohio Department of Agriculture and found negative. (B) The RAPID WHOLE BLOOD TEST shall not be used to test turkeys for compliance with the requirements of paragraphs (A) (4) of this rule. (C) Waterfowl, Doves and Pigeons are exempt from this rule.

It’s a contest to determine how many times a rooster can crow during a 31 minute period.
This is a means for a rooster to boast about himself and “maybe his exhibitor”.
(Roosters are not made to crow. They crow of their own accord)

RULES
1. Only two (2) entries are allowed each exhibitor.
2. No entry fee will be charged
3. Any ties will be “crowed off” by rules set by the committee.
4. Qualified judges will be assigned to record the number of crows during the specified time.
5. Roosters will be penned in individual coops and handlers may use any method to get their exhibit to crow, without touching the bird. (Talk gimmick, clap sides with hands, throw them food, etc.)
6. The committee will not be held responsible for wakening up exhibitors.
7. The committee has the right to limit entries.

Deadline for entries is AUGUST 2, 2010 at noon.
Entry fee is $15.00 per animal. There will be a $8.00 gate fee, upon arrival for each member of your party. Enter the fairgrounds at Gate 6 off Kimble St.
Because our facilities are limited, we will accept the first 100 animals.
Entry requested over this number will be returned.
Stalls are 10'X10' with dirt floors and electricity. Multiple stall your llamas as much as possible.
Ribbons to six places. Premium money to four places, plus Grand and reserve Champions.
